It was after my previous shoot with Ana that I realised I want to expand on the black&white series featuring edgy editing and minimal lighting. Knowing Elena for a pretty long time, it was only natural that someday one of us would say ‘hey, let’s do a serious shoot’. We had made a bunch of pictures together but we never really prepared for a proper one, with make-up and lights and everything. So that day came in early 2016.

Ever since I’ve known her, Elena has been a Marketing & PR professional through and through, and posing was something she only did for friends, for occasional facebook-postable pictures. Doing this shoot was a challenge for us both and I am happy she chose to do it. Obviously I wasn’t expecting from her some ‘model’ skills, but I was surprised at how open and natural she felt throughout the entire photoshoot. Or at least that’s what I saw.
Showing the playful side of one’s personality in a classy way is something that’s bordered by very fine lines. And it’s definitely a nice surprise when it comes out during a shoot with somebody you’ve known for years in many ways but not this one.
